If you are researching Synergize before an interview, you are doing the right thing. Here is an honest picture of the work, including the parts that are hard, because a job description that only sells is useless to you.
The work is face to face
Our team represents nonprofit partners at community events, school programs, and outreach tables across the Sacramento region. That means talking to real people, in person, all day. If you like being out in the community, that is the best part of the job. If you want to sit behind a screen, this is honestly not the right fit, and we would rather you know that now.
You get trained, not thrown in
Almost nobody joins us already knowing how to do outreach. New team members shadow someone experienced from day one, then practice with coaching. The skills the job builds, clear communication, resilience, reading people, following through, are the kind that carry a career anywhere.
Growth is earned, and it is real
Leadership here is developed from within. People who master the fundamentals take on more: coaching newer teammates, coordinating events, eventually leading campaigns. Our leadership, including our CEO Kevin Swimmer, is hands on in that development, because the company only grows as fast as its people do.
Who it is not for
This work rewards consistency and effort. If you show up, stay coachable, and care about the causes we represent, you will do well. If you are looking for something passive, you will not enjoy it. That is not a knock on anyone, it is just the honest shape of the job.
Current openings are always on our careers page, and applications go straight to our team.
